CommonGrid Brand Identity

The name CommonGrid is inspired by the elemental meaning of each word; belonging to or shared by a group and a network of uniformity.

Drawing from these two  themes, our logotype speaks to our namesake and our design beliefs.

Inspired by universality, the logo forms are derived from circles. While at their purest form the shapes are identical, they have been subtly altered to create the C and G, evoking the spirit of our detail oriented approach.

There is no correct or incorrect orientation of the forms, the only rule is they must intersect. The flexibility and modularity of the logo speaks to our design process, we celebrate there being many solutions to the same problem. The intersection of the two forms speaks to our commitment to our clients, always connected, thriving for balance and harmoy.

Drafting off of a traditional clean and minimal sans-serif, we gave the wordmark subtle round edges, to feel welcoming and approachable. We also wanted to give the wordmark a sense of confidence, it remains all caps. Finally, we wanted it to feel playful, hence the exaggerated R and C ligatures.
